April is a seasoned public health practitioner, educator, and family medicine provider with over 18 years of experience at the intersection of healthcare, education, and human rights. She currently serves as Head of School at Pathways Children’s School, a private nonprofit program supporting children with profound disabilities through compassionate, individualized education and care. In this role, April leads a multidisciplinary team committed to advancing equity, inclusion, and high-quality learning for students with complex needs. She also holds a faculty appointment at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health, where she teaches on the social and biological determinants of health. April’s work is grounded in rights-based, community-centered approaches that uplift historically underserved populations and drive systemic change.
